Getting Started with Tasks

Tasks help you keep track of what you need to get done in Highrise. A task can be due at a specific date or time, have a general time frame like next week, or repeat when completed or originally due.

You can create tasks related to any contact, note, email, case, or deal.

Task time frames

There are six different time frames you can assign to a task.

1. A Specific date or time

Choose a day from the date picker and a time in any 15 minute increment.  Currently, a task assigned to a specific day must also have a time.

2. Today

Task will be due on the same day you create it.

3. Tomorrow

Task will be due on the day after you create it.

4. This week

Task will be due during the same week you create it. A week runs from Sunday - Saturday.

5. Next week

Task will be due the week after you create it. A week runs from Sunday - Saturday.

6. Later

No time frame associated with the task.

Time frames automatically adjust

Time frames will automatically adjust relative to the current day.

Tasks marked  Later always stay marked as later. But as time passes next week becomes this week. This week becomes overdue. Tomorrow becomes today. Today becomes overdue.

Adding tasks

You can add a task at any time by clicking the  New Task button across the top of your account.

TIP: Create a follow-up task in 5 seconds or less.

Tasks about Contacts

When viewing a contact's profile page, click the  New Task button at the top or the Add task link on the right side of the page.

This will create a task attached to the contact.

Tasks about Notes

When viewing the full text of a note, click the  New Task button at the top of the page to create a task associated to the note.

You must be on the page where the whole note is visible to attach a task to a note.

Tasks about Emails

When viewing the full text of an email, you can click the  New Task button at the top of the page to create a task associated to the email.

You must be on the page where the whole email is visible to attach a task to an email.

TIP: Never forget a task from an email again!

Tasks about Cases

When viewing a case in Highrise, you can click the  New Task button at the top or the Add task link on the right side of the case page.

This will create a task related to the case.

Tasks about Deals

When viewing a deal in Highrise, you can click the  New Task button at the top or the Add task link on the right side of the deal page.

This will create a task related to the deal.

Adding multiple tasks

Currently, tasks can only be added one at a time.

If you want to add multiple tasks at a time, a 3rd party integration might help you do what you want to do. Check out how Zapier connects Google Sheets and Highrise tasks.

Highrise is not involved in the development of any outside integrations. Each one is handled from start to finish by the 3rd party using our API.

Examples of Tasks

You can view your tasks from your tasks page. Any tasks that are attached to a case, deal, note, email, or contact will include a link next to the task.

Snooze Tasks

Any scheduled task can be snoozed or quickly rescheduled.

If a task is scheduled for a specific date and time, there are five possible time frames to choose when snoozing a task:

1. 30 minutes

Task will be rescheduled 30 minutes from its original due date.

2. 1 hour

Task will be rescheduled 1 hour from its original due date.

3. 2 hours

Task will be rescheduled 2 hours from its original due date.

4. 1 day

Task will be rescheduled 1 day from its original due date.

5. 1 week

Task will be rescheduled 1 week from its original due date.

If a task was scheduled without a specific time, you can snooze it to Today, Tomorrow, This Week, Next Week or Later as discussed above:

If you snooze an overdue task, Highrise uses the current date and time to reschedule it instead of the original due date of the task.
